"The practice of painting is a complicated one which often raises more questions than answers. This workshop will introduce participants to the process of developing a series of related works to move through ideas and explore formal, material, and pictorial possibilities.
Participants will develop a series of works using various painting media and subjects of their choosing. They will consider how contiguous works in a series evolve, the idea that subsequent works are informed by earlier iterations, and how doubt and uncertainty can be powerful creative forces. Of particular interest will be the implementation of constants and variables within a series to investigate the relationship of form, media, and process to content.

Throughout the workshop we will look to examples by historical and contemporary artists that engage time, the multiple, consistency, and variance. We will examine how painters have developed series work within their practice and looked to artists of the past to negotiate making in their present"
